(CNN) -- A car bomb killed two people and wounded 23 others Thursday in southern Yemen, authorities said. Two of the wounded were in critical condition.
The bomb was placed under the car of Yahya al-Shoaiby, Dhale province's top intelligence official, according to the province's deputy chief of security. Al-Shoaiby exited the vehicle a few minutes before it went off.
The explosion rocked a street outside security offices in the city of Dhale, capital of the province, the official said.
No group has claimed responsibility, but the Dhale deputy head of security said officials suspect that al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula is behind the attack.
CNN's Mohammed Jamjoom contributed to this report.
