SAN'A, Yemen (AP) - Yemeni officials say three protesters have been killed and four injured in clashes with security forces during anti-government demonstrations in the country's restive south.
The officials say two of the protesters were killed Thursday in Al-Baaha and one in Dhali'a.
Opposition parties have called for nationwide demonstrations against an ongoing government crackdown on southern separatists in Yemen.
Some 250 southern activists have been arrested this week in the clampdown, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
Southerners, who joined a unified Yemeni in 1990, have started a political movement demanding secession from the North, blaming the northerners for marginalizing them.
